Library of Yunnan Minzu University was founded in 1953. In 1991, the 6-storey 8,659㎡ new library building was constructed. It is on the Lianhua campus, and also a magnificent, beautiful, lighting and properly arranged place for readers. This library has 18 reading-rooms.

Yuhua Library completed in 2009, covers a built area of 39,850㎡. It locates in the Chenggong campus. This library consists of five layers of the octagonal hall and four independent areas. It is a personalized, digitalized, and networking-open-shelves library. There are 4200 seats, 3 Study Lounges, 1 Electronic Reading Rooms, 12 Open Stack Reading Rooms, 1 Compact Stack Reading Room and 2 Closed Stacks.

By the end of 2015, the total amount of library documents has reached 2,350,000 types. Paper books are more than 1,200,000 volumes and e-books are more than 1,150,000 volumes.

Library implements director responsibility system. There are five departments in the library, including Office, Acquisition and Processing Department, Readers Service Department, Documents Information Department, and Skill Service Department.
