The former institution of Information and Network Center of Yunnan Minzu University is Computing Center of Yunnan Minzu University that was established in 1993, affiliated to Education Affairs Department. In July, 2004, the computing center was administrated by Educational Technology School, with the new name after the current one. In October, 2006, the center belonged to Professional Technology School. In April, 2009, in order to enhance the campus information management and to better serve education and research via network and information technology, this university made the center independent and named it Information Construction Management Center of Yunnan Minzu University, affiliated to the university. In July 2015, the center was named after the current name, the more than decades’ endeavor of this center sets solid foundation for the center to finish information construction and management.

Information and Network Center in on behalf of planning, constructing, conducting, managing, and serving computer network and information system in this university, posing the significant part in education and scientific research. 6 employees serve in 2 offices of this center: network conducting office and information system office (with one manager in each office).

The constructive situation of campus network in Yunnan Minzu University can be summarized like this: the network in Lianhua Campus is giga-network; the network in Yuhua Campus is tens of giga-network. The network cover all office buildings, teaching buildings, dormitories, teachers’ apartments, serving teachers and students in any time. Both campuses now fulfill users surfing the internet with real name register. Currently, more than 40000 information spots are operating now, 32 thousand users surf in campus network with the most 12 thousand users surfing simultaneously, 16 IP addresses of category C are opened with the temporary frozen 48 pieces. The output of network is 5.9G and 2 routers, 4 core switches, 19 integrated switches, 300 cutover switches, 102 service devices and small machines, 132 secondary websites and 25 university-level system serve the campus.

Campus WLAN and campus IP broadcasting are being used, covering all office buildings, laboratories, teaching buildings, and dormitories. Currently, OA office, Email, WWW, VPN, DNS, and multi-media internet education are offered. The network of this university has established as the applied information platform that contain unified terminal, unified ID examination, freshmen welcoming system, network education, education affairs management, scientific research management, office online, email, campus card, video education, undergraduate enrollment, financial consultation, undergraduates’ admitting consultation, etc. The center poses significant role in the development of Yunnan Minzu University.

Since the Campus Network operated, functions have been stable and reliable and operation has been fluent. The center accumulates experience in jobs and send backbone technician with responsibility to maintain and update the website, and to deal with problems in time, in order to ensure the campus network to conduct its role in office, education, research, and management.
