This school is equipped with chemistry and environment department, consisting of five majors including chemistry, applied chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering and chemical engineering and technology. Chemistry discipline is chemical characteristics key disciplines of Yunnan Province’s 12th five-year plan; applied chemistry program and chemistry specialty are provincial characteristic disciplines; “instrumental analysis”, “organic chemistry” and “inorganic chemistry are provincial elaborate courses and the team of chemical core course teaching is the provincial teaching team. Chemistry discipline is the first level Master degree, consisting of six majors including inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analysis chemistry, physical chemistry, polymeric chemistry and physics and environmental science. There are Chemical Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Cross-border Areas in Yunnan Ethnic Clean Utilization of Biomass Resources International Joint Research Centre, Biopolymer Materials Engineering Technology Research Center of Yunnan, Engineering Research Centre of Biopolymer Functional Materials of Yunnan, Key laboratory of Comprehensive Utilization of Mineral Resources in Ethnic Regions, Yunnan University-based Key Laboratory of Clean Conversion of Resources in Ethic Regions, Colleges Environment Friendly Low Carbon Materials Engineering Research Center of Yunnan, one academicians workstation and one expert workstation. Besides, there are Yunnan Green Chemistry and Materials Science and Technology Innovation Team, The Green Chemical Materials and New Energy Science and Technology Innovation Team of Biodegradable Materials Science and Technology Innovation Team of Yunnan provinces colleges and High-end Technology Talent Project in Yunnan province. There are 52 teachers, including nearly 30 associate and full professors, more than 30 people have doctoral degrees, and more than 20 people are master tutors, including one with high-technology professional reward, three with the title of provincial famous teachers, 5 Yunnan provincial academic and technological leaders and 4 reserved talents.

The college has more than 10,000 square meters of experimental teaching building, with 400 trillion superconducting NMR spectrometer, scanning electron microscopy, X diffraction analyzers, liquid - mass spectrometry and gas - mass spectrometry analytical instruments and other modern teaching equipment and a complete laboratory equipment to ensure the needs of teaching and research. The college has chemistry experiment teaching demonstration center in Yunnan Province and provincial and ministerial key laboratories and engineering research centers in Yunnan Province including Engineering Research Centre of Biopolymer Functional Materials of Yunnan, Engineering Research Centre of Biopolymer Functional Materials of Yunnan, Cross-border areas in Yunnan Ethnic clean utilization of biomass resources International Joint Research Centre; also has Yunnan Key laboratory of universities and engineering research centers including Yunnan University-based Key Laboratory of Clean Conversion of resources in Ethic Regions, Key laboratory of Comprehensive Utilization of Mineral Resources in Ethnic Regions, Colleges Environment Friendly Low Carbon Materials Engineering Research Center of Yunnan. Besides, there are Zixin Chen academician workstation and Guodong Wang academician workstation. There are Green Chemistry and Functional Materials Research and Innovation Team, Yunnan College applied Chemistry Technological Innovation Team, Yunnan College Green Chemistry New Energy and Materials Science and Technology Innovation Team and Yunnan Biodegradable Materials Science and Technology Innovation Team.

The college has nearly 800 undergraduates, 90 graduates. Since the college has been established, nearly 3,000 of the college graduates, more than 300 graduate students have been trained for society. Most of graduates have become the backbone of the business or management of the party and government organs, enterprises, research institutes, throughout most provinces and cities, and some continue to pursue a master's degree, doctorate, post-graduate study abroad or work in the countries, which play important roles especially in economic and social development in Yunnan ethnic frontier regions

 

Chemistry

(Four years undergraduate)

Objective: senior professionals are cultivated who have both ability and political integrity, a solid foundation for chemical theory and be able to apply knowledge of chemistry and modern media technology in education, scientific research and management to award Bachelor of Science degree. Graduates can go to primary and secondary schools in the teaching profession, but also to enterprises including the chemical industry, building materials, pharmaceuticals, environmental protection, food processing, science and technology institutes and other departments engaged in the production, analysis and testing, research, management, or continue to study chemistry and its related Master of cross-disciplinary and applied sciences.

Core Courses: In addition to discipline-based courses, courses about chemistry teaching, multimedia technology, education, psychology, computer literacy and basic applications, instrumental analysis, spectral analysis, chemical literature retrieval and related experimental program are opened. Students should complete teaching internships and thesis, while optional course about environmental chemistry, and chemical analysis of natural medicine, computer applications in chemistry, food chemistry, industrial analysis, and so on are provided.

 

Applied Chemistry

(Four-year undergraduate)

Objective: senior professionals are cultivated who have both ability and political integrity, a solid foundation for chemical theory, basic knowledge and strong experimental skills and have related engineering and technical knowledge, modern analytical techniques and basic skills in computer application to award Bachelor of Science degree. Graduates can go to primary and secondary schools in the teaching profession, but also to enterprises including the chemical industry, metallurgy, building materials, pharmaceuticals, police, environmental protection and food processing, science and technology institutes and other departments engaged in the production, analysis and testing, research, management, or continue to study applied chemistry and its related Master of cross-disciplinary and applied sciences.

Core Courses: In addition to discipline-based courses, courses about modern instrumental analysis, natural organic chemistry, life chemistry, medicinal chemistry, drug analysis, chemical engineering, chemical engineering drawing, fine organic chemical products, chemical instrumentation and automation, industrial analysis, separation science and technology, environmental chemistry courses and related experiments program are opened, while elective environmental chemistry, and chemical analysis of natural medicine, computer applications in chemistry, food chemistry, industrial analysis and other courses, and complete teaching internships and thesis can be selected. Students can choose courses expanding their knowledge or take interdisciplinary elective and should complete research training and thesis

 

Environmental Science

(Four years undergraduate)

Objective: senior professionals are cultivated who have a good overall quality, environmental science solid theoretical foundation, professional knowledge, strong experimental skills, ability of environmental monitoring and of analysis and evaluation of environmental protection, management capabilities and be able to make use of basic computer skills, to award the Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Science. Graduates can go to enterprises about environmental monitoring, environmental protection, chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing and so on, science and technology departments, or secondary school engaged in environmental analysis and monitoring and evaluation, environmental protection, scientific research, teaching or administration, or continue to study environmental science and interdisciplinary master's degree in related disciplines and applications.

Core Courses: In addition to discipline-based courses, courses about modern instrument analysis, environmental studies, environmental chemistry, environmental monitoring, environmental impact assessment, environmental planning and management, environmental microbiology, environmental engineering, environmental ecology theory courses and the corresponding experimental are opened. Students combining with reality can choose courses expanding their knowledge or take interdisciplinary elective and should complete research training and thesis.

 

Environmental Engineering

(Four years undergraduate)

Objective: advanced technology talents are cultivated who have the knowledge of pollution control engineering about water, air, noise, solid waste, pollution prevention planning and management and environmental assessment in government departments, planning departments, economic management departments, environmental protection departments, design units, industrial and mining enterprises, research institutes, universities engaging in the planning, design, construction, management, education and research and development to awarded Bachelor of Engineering. Senior engineering and technical personnel who can be engaged in engineering design, technology development, production technology management, scientific research, teaching and management in aspects of chemical industry, environmental protection, new materials, bio-engineering and other fields are also under plan.

Core Courses: In addition to discipline-based courses, main courses about modern instrumental analysis, chemical engineering principle, air pollution control and curriculum design, curriculum design and control of water pollution, solid wastes, mechanical drawing, environmental impact assessment, environmental law, environmental chemistry theory courses and the corresponding experiments and curriculum design are offered. Students combining with reality can choose courses expanding their knowledge or take interdisciplinary elective and should complete research training and thesis.

 

Chemical Engineering and Technology

(Four-year undergraduate)

Objective: advanced technology talents are cultivated who have a good overall quality, solid basic theory of Chemical Engineering and Technology, master design methods of chemical production processes and plant equipment, with initial capacity for new products, new technology research, development and design,  being familiar with the policies and regulations  about  the approach to chemical production, design research and development, environmental protection and so on to awarded Bachelor of Engineering. Graduates can go to enterprises about inorganic chemicals, fine chemicals, non-metallic materials, polymer materials, bio-pharmaceutical, biotechnology, science and technology departments, or secondary school engaged in the production, technology development, applied research, management and teaching work, or continue a master's degree chemical and related interdisciplinary and applied sciences.

Core Courses: In addition to academic foundation classes, courses about modern instrumental analysis, chemical engineering principle, chemical reaction engineering, chemical thermodynamics, chemical separation engineering, chemical engineering drawing, chemical machinery and equipment, chemical technology, microbiology, industrial analysis, organic synthesis, fine Chemicals technology course theory and corresponding experiments and curriculum design are opened. Students combining with reality can choose courses expanding their knowledge or take interdisciplinary elective and should complete research training and thesis.
